Unique Travel Needs?
Having trouble finding the “perfect place” to stay when traveling? This may help.
If you travel often, for business, pleasure or both, finding a place that satisfies your unique needs may be difficult. For example, if you travel with a pet, most hotels will not let you bring it into the hotel, and those that do often charge a non-refundable pet fee that can make even the most affordable rooms expensive. Similarly, if you travel with a boat, trailer, business equipment, etc., a hotel parking lot is not usually a place you feel comfortable leaving your valuables.
There are several travel service companies that cater to those of us with unique travel needs, special destinations and atypical requirements. Among the most notable are HomeAway, VRBO and Airbnb. Each uses some form of the “rental by owner” method which makes private residences available for rent… from a single room to an entire estate. Part of what makes these services great is the flexibility that is included in the search mechanism that allows you to filter through the millions of properties to find only those that meet all or most of your unique criteria.
In my case, my favorite of these services, Airbnb helps me to find a private residence near my preferred destination that not only allows me to bring my Golden Retriever, but also provides me with a safe place to store our kayaks, and sometimes even park our boat on the water! Many a business trip has been stretched into a long weekend of fun, fishing and relaxing with my favorite fellas… both the two-legged and the four-legged!
