Best Bet Auto on Buford Highway

Recently, I took one of my vehicles to Best Bet Auto on Buford Highway. I’m so glad I did! It turned out to be a Shiny Penny!

Having lived in Sandy Springs, Buckhead and Brookhaven now for most of my life (I was born in Decatur), the cost of getting cars worked on has always bothered me. Taking a car to the dealer, once you are outside of your warranty, is outrageously expensive, but it is hard to find a mechanic that you can trust and is reasonably priced. When I was in my 20’s, I had a mechanic act like I was an idiot when it came to cars because I was a woman. Ever since then, I have been very wary of mechanics.

My boyfriend had used Best Bet before, on the recommendation of a good friend. He said that their prices are fair and they are trustworthy, quality mechanics. My experience confirmed this. I brought the Ford Escape that my son drives there for its 90,000 mile check up, expecting numerous issues to crop up. To my delight, they checked it from top to bottom, taking the wheels off and everything, and found nothing that needed repairing. How often does that happen? Usually, you take a car in, expecting a couple of things to need attention, and the mechanics produce a list a mile long of things that need to be repaired or replaced. He said it was in good shape, explained a couple of things that may need work in the future, and sent me on my way. He charged me $95, like a pre-purchase inspection, which was completely fair in my mind, for his time. Sure, driving up Buford Highway isn’t super convenient, but to find someone I trust to keep my cars safe and guard my wallet at the same time, it’s worth it.

A close second is McCullough Auto/Napa in Sandy Springs at Roswell Road and 285 if you don’t want to drive to Norcross. They are also very trustworthy and priced fairly. I have worked with them for several years, thanks to a referral from my friend Randall. The only reason I switched is because Best Bet is even less expensive.
